About M30A Films
Many people ask where the name M30A Films comes from. M30A
stands for ‘movimiento 30 de Agosto’ or
‘the movement of the 30th
of
August’. Anyone who has spent any time in Cuba or
some of the more didactic parts of Latin-America will
recognize the shorthand. It seems as if movements are
created at the drop of a hat, so many of them in fact, that
rather than give them actual names they refer to them by
the day they were started. M30A films was begun on the
evening of the 30th
of
August of 2003 by Andreas Wagner, Kevin Keaveney, and
myself. Having recently been involved in the founding and
naming of a 20th
of
May movement (another story), M30A seemed an appropriate
sobriquet to anoint our group with. Several films later,
the name has stuck and we are contemplating ordering up
nifty armpatches for our followers.
Viva M30A!
